Obituary
Winston Bernard Parrish, Sr., affectionately known as Bernard, was born on May 31, 1950, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He peacefully transitioned in his hometown on June 24, 2025, at the age of 75.
A proud graduate of North Shore High School, Class of 1967, Bernard was widely known for his extraordinary athleticism. He excelled in football, basketball, swimming, and more, earning numerous features in the local newspaper for his standout talent and dedication to sports.
Bernard devoted much of his career to the field of construction, where his strong work ethic and determination were unmatched. In later years, he made the selfless decision to retire early and dedicate himself fully as a caretaker to his beloved wife of 28 years, Engar Dennard-Parrish. His unwavering love, resilience, and quiet strength were evident in everything he did, especially in the way he showed up for the people he loved.
Bernard was a devoted father to six children and a guiding presence for his extended family. He is survived by his children: Terrance Parrish, Alfred Dennard, Jr., Rashad Montgomery, Winslyn Parrish, and Winston Parrish, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Luevenia Parish; his aunt and family, Cristie Vell; his nieces: Elizabeth Walden, Pamela Parish-Smith, and Trishell Parish-Velazquez; his nephew, Anthony Parish; and his grandchildren: Teranesha Taylor and Atlas Dennard.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Engar Parrish; his son, Shamari Parrish; his brother, Jerome Parish; his mother, Cora Parish; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Sears; and his father.
To celebrate Bernard’s life and legacy, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7th at Brown’s Funeral Home in Lantana, Florida. Interment will immediately follow at Royal Palm Funeral Home.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Bernard during his later years. His life was a testament to loyalty, love, and enduring strength, and his memory will forever live on in all who knew and loved him.
