On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Roland Earl McLoud, MD, loving husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 93. Earl was born May 16, 1930 in Nashua, New Hampshire to Harold and Laura McLoud. He enjoyed playing a variety of sports throughout his school years and beyond, including baseball, basketball, football, tennis, golf, ice hockey, downhill skiing and water skiing.
To help pay for his college education, he took a job as foreman of a team conducting geological surveys in the desert of Peru. His training for the job was conducted in Lubbock, Texas, where he met his future wife, Marcella (Sally). After his year in Peru, the couple was married and he completed his undergraduate education as well as his medical degree at the University of Texas.
Earl and Sally started their family while in Texas where the first two of their four children were born. They later moved to Massachusetts where their younger two children were born and where Earl set up his medical practice, Brockton Obstetrical and Gynecological Associates. Over the course of his 30-year career, Earl delivered over 7,000 babies. He was respected by his colleagues for his knowledge and professionalism and was beloved by his patients for his wit and compassion.
After retiring Earl and Sally enjoyed being snowbirds, splitting their time between their log cabin on the coast in Corea, Maine and their home in South Palm Beach, Florida.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harold (Red) McLoud Jr, and his wife of 68 years, Sally. He is survived by his daughter Laura and husband Winslow Rogers, his son Mike and wife Lynn McLoud, his daughter Kate McLoud, and his daughter Nancy and husband Rene Vidaurre as well as grandchildren Vivian Rogers, Michael McLoud and partner Heather Boyd, Heather Thow, Ricky Thow, Devon Thow, Sharon and husband Benny Salas, Marcela Gallardo and husband Francisco Centeno, Marcos and wife Mia Vidaurre, and Daniel Vidaurre.
A funeral Mass will be held on March 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Palm Beach, FL followed by a viewing from noon to 1:00PM at Brown’s Funeral Home in Lantana, FL. An interment ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM on the same day at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Royal Palm Beach, FL.
