LIFE REFLECTIONS

Betty Jean Watkins was born on July 13, 1945, to Lawton and Carrie Howard, in Woodcliff, GA, Screven County. Betty spent a part of her childhood and started her education there until she and her family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. Betty finished her education in the Palm Beach County School System, graduating from Roosevelt High School (class of 1963). In 1979 she met Jessie Watkins and they later married on February 22, 1988. They continued their love story until he was called home on January 27, 2022. Betty worked in the medical courier service business for over 40 years with both Medpath and Quest Diagnostics until her retirement.

Betty embraced the presence of our Heavenly Father from her earliest days and joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, FL, 22 years ago. She loved her church and was a faithful and supportive member. On the evening of June 12, 2022, our Heavenly Father, in His infinite wisdom, gently lead Betty into the sunset of her eternal rest.

Although gone from this earthly body, the memories that have been made and shared with all of us will forever be in our hearts. Betty was loved dearly and preceded in death by her father, Lawton Howard; her mother, Carrie Howard; her daughter-in-law, Shenell Howard; her oldest son, Dyrel Howard; her sister, Miriam Howard, and her husband, Jessie Watkins. Betty leaves to cherish her memories: her sons; Anthony Howard, Timothy (Tyerra) Howard, and Kevin Howard. Her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Howard. Two special nephews; Craig (Donnet) Howard and Gary Holman. Two godsons: Anthony Dove and Victor Dove; and one goddaughter: Tina Hall. Her grandchildren: Demetrius Smith, Damar O’Neal, Sr., Jabree Monroe, Cristal O’Neal, Myra O’Neal, Ta’Niaya La’Kevia Howard, Timia Howard, Ta’Kayla Howard, and Ashanti Howard; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a plethora of dear friends...too many to justly specifically name, as she was loved by all she encountered.
